The Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra (SCSO) proudly presents European Masterworks—a stirring collection of timeless choral-orchestral classics on March 1st at 3 pm.
A Program of Iconic Masterpieces: 🎶
Adagio for Strings – Samuel Barber: One of the most moving orchestral works of the 20th century, Adagio for Strings is synonymous with deep emotion, often featured in films/TV (Platoon, West Wing, The Simpsons & more) and national moments of reflection. Its sweeping, expressive melodies have cemented it as an icon of classical music.
Lux Aeterna – Morten Lauridsen: A breathtaking choral work also featured in films/TV (Angels & Demons), Lux Aeterna envelops listeners in waves of radiant harmonies and ethereal beauty, offering a sense of solace and transcendence.
Creation Mass (Schöpfungsmesse) – Franz Joseph Haydn: A magnificent choral-orchestral work, Haydn’s Creation Mass blends grandeur and joy, demonstrating classical mastery at its finest. (Area Première!)
Concert Highlights:
The performance will feature the renowned SCSO 150-voice chorus and professional orchestra, along with internationally acclaimed soloists under the direction of SCSO Conductor, Dr. Donald Kendrick.
