YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) – Ben Moody, Director of Public Works and Development Services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley PotoÄnik as the new Development Liaison for the City.

Ashley started her career with the City of Yuba City in March 2021 as an Assistant Planner and has grown to deeply appreciate serving the community. Ashley earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from Utah State University. As a student, she thrived in leadership and community development positions to promote equitable and sustainable planning and design and developed a passion for active transportation. She will begin working immediately in her new role to facilitate projects through the City’s review and permitting processes for various development projects.

The Development Liaison position is a Yuba City Council “Business Friendly” initiative and will act as the central point of contact for development projects, open communication lines and offer solutions to issues or conflicting regulations and follow the project through to completion. Ashley will facilitate communication between project applicants and City staff and allow for a coordinated and efficient movement of applications between departments. This position will report to the Director of Public Works and Development Services, Ben Moody.

“On behalf of the entire city council, we would like to welcome Ashley to her new role with the city. Filling this position to assist people as they interact with the city has been a priority first discussed under Former Mayor Marc Boomgaarden and we are thrilled to see Ashley serve in this new role,” said, Mayor Dave Shaw.

According to Ben Moody, the appointment of this new position will provide relief for businesses/developers that are new or have done work in the city. “With Ashley’s knowledge and service with the city in various planning, design review, and permitting capacities, she brings professionalism and skills that will serve both the city and our customers exceptionally well.”

In addition to being the initial point of contact, Ashley will serve to assist applicants in understanding the City’s requirements, which will enable them to submit complete applications and avoid possible delays. She will work as a liaison between City departments, including Planning, Environmental Services, Building, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Fire Prevention, Public Safety, the City Attorney’s office, and others as needed from application submittal through permit plan check; and facilitate communication and positive working relationships. Acting in this capacity should significantly reduce the amount of time applicants spend going from department to department.
