Weekend shooting, under investigation
YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - A Sacramento man faces an attempted murder charge following a stabbing that injured two people during Sikh Parade weekend in Yuba City. The Sutter County Sheriff's Office is also investigating a separate shooting near the Sikh Temple.
Deputies responded to the stabbing on Sunday, Nov. 1, near the conclusion of the parade. Two people suffered injuries and went to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies arrested Davinder Singh, 28, of Sacramento, on suspicion of attempted murder, mayhem, conspiracy to commit a crime and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, including one involving great bodily injury.
Singh remains in custody at the Sutter County Jail. The second person involved in the stabbing remains hospitalized at UC Davis Medical Center in stable condition.
The stabbing followed a separate shooting reported Saturday, Oct. 31, in a parking lot across Tierra Buena Road from the Sikh Temple.
Deputies reported no injuries in the shooting. Investigators have identified a suspect but have not released the person's identity or announced an arrest in that case.
The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate both incidents and has not determined whether they are connected.
Investigators are working with Sikh Temple leadership to identify and locate other individuals who may have been involved.
