MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - Want to have an amazing day? Then look no further than Third Street in Marysville.

Alexandria Jones may already be a familiar face to many around the Yuba-Sutter area. The former Blue Zones Yuba-Sutter engagement lead and Freebirds on-field host added another role to her résumé last summer when she opened Amazing Day Events & Experiences in downtown Marysville.

“I love creating magic for families,” Jones said. “Coming from the Walt Disney Company, I learned so much about how a little bit of magic can take you right back to being a child. I love being able to bring that feeling back home to Marysville and create those kinds of experiences for families in our community.”

Jones credits her mother, Michele Mazerolle, with being the craftier half of the mother-daughter team. One of the first projects Mazerolle helped implement was a paper-bag floor made entirely from recycled paper bags and epoxy.

“It’s something I’d always wanted to try,” Mazerolle said. “I do so much crafting that it’s kind of nice to have a place to craft that’s not my house. I also enjoy getting to spend time with the kids and run around after my granddaughter.”

To celebrate spooky season, the mother-daughter duo has transformed their studio, located at 319 Third St., into House of Boo, a not-so-scary Halloween haunt geared primarily toward children ages 0 to 7. The walk-through features crawl tunnels, sensory play, floating target practice and even a blacklight paint-splatter room.

House of Boo will continue throughout October from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, according to the studio’s event poster. Admission is free for children under 1, $5 for children ages 1 to 7, $3 for adults and $2 for each additional adult.

Other upcoming events include The Spell Jar Bar for grown-up makers at 6 p.m. Oct. 22. The $25 workshop invites participants to create a personal manifestation jar using dried herbs, oils, crystals, sands and other materials, along with a potion to sip and a tarot card reading from Mystic Mountain Tarot.

For younger makers, the studio will host its Spooktacular Monster Mash at 10 a.m. Oct. 24. The $10 Halloween craft party will include seasonal crafts, play and other spooky surprises.
