TROWBRIDGE, CA (YSBC) - The East Nicolaus Spartans 1,000 club added a new name on Sept. 22 as senior Ashlynn Tagala recorded her 1,000th career dig.

Tagala is a four-year player on the roster as she was a libero her first three seasons with East Nicolaus before she moved to the setting role this season.

Tagala expressed to Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that it was a bittersweet moment, and it was a big deal for her to achieve that accomplishment.

“All of those digs was me putting forth the effort and doing everything I can do to help my team,”

She added that going down to the floor for a dig is a big deal because of the potentiality of stopping a run and rally by the other team.

Ashlynn isn’t the first Tagala to reach the 1,000 club in a East Nicolaus uniform as her older sister and Spartans’ alumna Addy (2025) accomplished 2,254 career assists.

Ashlynn said that she aspired to reach the 1,000 club because of Addy; however, she has expressed that she is aiming to earn the banner twice.

She was the first East Nicolaus volleyball player in Spartans history to achieve 1,000 digs.

Ashlynn had 18 assists and seven digs in East Nicolaus’s three-set defeat to Colusa on Sept. 22.

Ashlynn is currently at 591 assists at the conclusion of play on Sept. 24.
