Yuba City 48, River Valley 0 - Yuba City will hold onto the Mayor’s Cup trophy for the 11th-consecutive year, as the Honkers’ were victorious on the gridiron for the 10th straight time between the schools.

Both teams did not meet on the football field in 2022 as River Valley forfeited that contest.

The game was scoreless after the first quarter as both defenses displayed strengths onto the field.

Yuba City was able to break through the defensive front in the second quarter as they put 21 unanswered points on the board.

River Valley had spurts of great play but was unable to finish out a drive with coming away with points to show for it.

Honkers senior quarterback Judah Allen completed seven passes for 126 yards in the air.

Yuba City junior wide receiver Juju Brown found the end zone multiple times and was awarded the game ball by the coaches after making impactful plays during the game.

Falcons head coach Mikey Badaluco expressed to Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that they committed to many mistakes in the game.

Honkers head coach Ionah Lessard said he wanted to leave no doubt in the game and for everybody in Yuba City to know who the better program is.

River Valley opens Greater Sacramento League play at Armijo (Fairfield) on Friday, Sept. 25 with kickoff scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Yuba City opens Foothill Valley League play as they are scheduled to host Del Campo on Friday night kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Marysville 21, Dixon 7 - The Marysville football team picked up their first win of the 2026 season with a 14-point victory over Dixon last week.

Marysville tied their season high in points and their defense was able to stop the Rams running game.

Marysville will attempt to take this momentum into Pioneer Valley League play as they travel to Lincoln and take on the Fighting Zebras.

Lincoln is averaging over 40 points a game and have a balanced 50/50 offensive attack.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Sutter 39, Bradshaw Christian 0 - The Sutter Huskies hosted their first home game in over 300 days last week and they put on a show in front of their faithful fans with a 39-point beating of the Bradshaw Christian Pride.

Sutter senior running back Losi Asiata dominated the rushing attack as he ran for 189 yards on 17 carries and found the end zone three times.

Huskies senior running back Robert Peiffer rushed for 64 yards in the win and added to Sutter’s 300-plus yard rushing attack in the win.

The Huskies ferocious defense had 10 tackles for loss and was led by senior linebacker Kristian Montero with 15.

Sutter senior linebacker Andrew Barker had 13 tackles and senior defensive end Troy Bowens added 12.

The Huskies will open Golden Empire League this week and will travel to Orangevale and take on the Casa Roble Rams.

Casa Roble is coming off a bye and will search for their first victory of the 2026 season against Sutter.

Despite the Rams being winless, the Huskies won’t overlook them and want to establish early they are the team to beat in the GEL.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Golden Sierra 35, Lindhurst 0 - The Lindhurst Blazers opened Delta Sierra League with a loss to the Golden Sierra Grizzlies.

Lindhurst struggled to move the ball and are hit by the injury bug as some of their key contributors are banged up.

The Blazers defense was burned on big plays through the air by Golden Sierra for the Grizzlies’ air attack as those chunky-pass plays resulted in touchdowns.

Lindhurst will head down to Citrus Heights on Friday night and play at Mesa Verde.

If the Blazers are successful in getting their first SDL victory of the year, they will have a week of much needed recovery heading into a bye week.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
