YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Members of the Rotary Club of Yuba City will serve lunch to more than 250 area seniors Sept. 18 during simultaneous community barbecues in Yuba City and Marysville.

Rotary volunteers will serve about 150 seniors at the Yuba City Senior Center and more than 100 at Butte Christian Manor in Marysville. Both meals will run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“This is exactly what Rotary is about,” Rotary Club of Yuba City President Tara Art said. “It's bringing people together, serving our community, and taking the time to make people feel valued.”

The lunches will include hamburgers with traditional fixings and ice cream sandwiches for dessert.

Mara Johnson is leading the club’s effort with assistance from Laurie Gidel. Patrick Larrigan, the club’s grill master, will handle the cooking.

Rotarians will divide their efforts between the two locations, with volunteers serving seniors at Butte Christian Manor while another group serves at the Yuba City Senior Center.

“We are especially excited that our local Rotarians will be serving at two locations on the same day,” Art said.

The Yuba City Senior Center is at 777 Ainsley Ave. in Yuba City. Butte Christian Manor is at 223 F St. in Marysville.
