MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - Authorities continued searching for a Sutter County Jail inmate Sunday after he escaped custody from a Marysville hospital while under the supervision of a private security company.

Jerome D. Woody, 44, escaped from his hospital room at Adventist Health Rideout Hospital at about 3:53 a.m. Aug. 23, according to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.

At the time, Woody was under the supervision of a private security company contracted by Sutter County to watch nonviolent inmates receiving hospital care.

Sutter County sheriff’s deputies and other local law enforcement agencies searched for Woody but had not located him as of the Sheriff’s Office’s Aug. 23 media release.

Authorities said Woody was in custody on nonviolent charges and was not believed to be armed or dangerous.

Woody is described as a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown.

The Sheriff’s Office described Woody as an unhoused transient with ties to the Yuba-Sutter area.
