YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Construction is underway on the Sutter Bike Path Gap Connection Project, which will extend the existing bike and pedestrian route toward Harter Parkway and Didar S. Bains Park.

The existing Sutter Bike Path currently ends at Hooper Road. The new segment will continue along the north side of Jefferson Avenue to Harter Parkway, improving connections for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

Planned improvements include an 8-foot-wide paved bike and pedestrian path, drainage work, new trees and landscaping, and solar-powered pathway lighting. The project will also complete a 10-foot-wide shared-use sidewalk and ADA-compliant curb ramps along the west side of Harter Parkway between Butte House Road and State Route 20.

According to the City of Yuba City, the project is being funded primarily through the state's Active Transportation Program and the federal Surface Transportation Block Grant Program, with the city contributing less than 15% of the total project cost.
