YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Two Gridley residents were arrested after a stolen vehicle investigation led to a police pursuit, crash and search in Yuba City.

With assistance from Flock Safety cameras, a Yuba City Police Department officer located the stolen vehicle about 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, in the parking lot of Circle K, 1263 Franklin Ave. Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen about 30 minutes earlier.

Officers identified the driver as Michael Harrison, 25, of Gridley and the passenger as Myra Lara, 18, also of Gridley.

Harrison initially stopped the vehicle, and both occupants followed officers' commands, according to police. Harrison then drove away, leading officers on a pursuit through city streets.

The pursuit ended at the dead end of Wilson Avenue, where police said Harrison lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a barricade fence.

Harrison and Lara left the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police searched the surrounding area and found Lara in a nearby canal. Officers took her into custody without further incident.

Police did not immediately locate Harrison. Officers found and arrested him the following morning.

Police booked Harrison and Lara into the Sutter County Jail on charges related to the incident, including possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and evading law enforcement.
