CHICO, CA (MPG) – The Chico Renaissance and Fantasy Faire will return to Patrick Ranch Museum on Saturday, Sept. 12, bringing a full day of live entertainment, demonstrations, hands-on activities and more than 100 vendors to the historic property.

The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Patrick Ranch Museum, 10381 Midway, in Durham.

Organizers said the event will feature entertainment throughout the day, including performances by the Guild of Rivenoak, which will stage three knight battles in full armor. Visitors also can watch aerial and fire performances by I Rays Movement and Illumanexus, live music from Pub Scouts, Ha Penny Bridge and The Honest Lyre, theater performances by Chico State Theatre and magic by Chris Bentz.

Several traditional crafts and demonstrations also are planned. Members of the Blacksmith Guild, including Sam Rutherford and Michael Cross, will demonstrate blacksmithing and offer branded penny stamp souvenirs. Visitors can make flower crowns with De De Jackson of Milan Studios, participate in community weaving, dragon crafts and telescope making, or watch sheepdog demonstrations presented by TurkeyTail Farm.

Other activities include mini bicycle jousting hosted by Bike Party, a fantasy-themed drag performance by Vortexx and Friends, flash tattoos from Pink Tattoo Studios, axe throwing with Paradise Playdium, face painting, tintype photography and a petting zoo featuring miniature ponies.

More than 100 local artisans, merchants and food vendors are expected to attend. Food options will include turkey legs from North State Grill, while Lassen Cidery will offer beer and cider for adults.

The event also includes a costume contest judged by representatives from 6th St. Second Hand, Vortexx the Drag King and Sound Source.

American Sign Language interpretation will be available for skits and magic performances.

Parking passes can be purchased in advance through the event website or Instagram page. Organizers encourage attendees to carpool for free parking or ride bicycles. Chico Velo will provide free bicycle valet parking, and the first 100 cyclists will receive a complimentary trinket trading pouch.

Admission to the Chico Renaissance and Fantasy Faire is free.
