YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - A little “24K Magic” is coming to Yuba City later this month, with foster youth taking on more than just a front-row seat.

Internationally touring Bruno Mars tribute band 24K Magic will perform Aug. 21 at Adventure Concert Hall in Yuba City for WeGive NorCal’s largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit’s programs for current and former foster youth.

WeGive NorCal founder Gina Alexander said the young people served by the organization will not simply be beneficiaries of the concert. They will help run it.

Foster youth will take an active role in producing and operating the event, giving them an opportunity to gain work experience that is central to WeGive NorCal’s mission.

The Yuba City performance will mark the first local appearance for 24K Magic, a Los Angeles-based tribute act fronted by Evan Saucedo. According to the band, the group has performed in 41 states and 11 countries, including shows at military installations in Okinawa and appearances in Qatar and Jordan.

The show recreates the music, choreography and style of a Bruno Mars concert, featuring hits such as “Uptown Funk,” “Treasure,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Just the Way You Are” and “24K Magic.”

The Yuba City show will also feature two guest vocalists with local ties.

Alexandria “Alex” Jones, lead singer of Sacramento Valley band Everything Nice and a former Miss Teen Yuba-Sutter and Miss Yuba-Sutter, will join the band for special duets. Jones previously worked as a Walt Disney Entertainment cast member at Walt Disney World and Disneyland and currently serves as an on-field host for the Yuba-Sutter Freebirds.

Also joining the group will be Sutter County resident Cherryl Del Rosario, whose performing career began in the Philippines and later took her around the world as a cruise ship entertainer.

The fundraiser comes a little more than a year after WeGive NorCal formally launched its Yuba City chapter. At the time, Alexander said the goal was not simply to help foster youth through the transition into adulthood but to provide opportunities that could lead to long-term independence and careers.

The concert will put that approach into practice by allowing participating youth to gain experience behind the scenes while raising money to create similar opportunities throughout the coming year.

Organizers hope to raise $50,000 in net proceeds to support youth stipends, program materials, mentorship initiatives, training courses and the launch of a scholarship fund.

The 24K Magic benefit concert will be held Aug. 21 at Adventure Concert Hall, 876 W. Onstott Frontage Road in Yuba City. Food trucks are scheduled to begin serving at 5 p.m., followed by a pre-show dance lesson with professional dancers at 5:30 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. The event is open to all ages.
