YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Musical partnerships made famous on Broadway, in film and on the radio will take center stage Aug. 29 during The Acting Company's fundraiser, "Two by Two: Celebrating Duos That Defined Entertainment."

The family-friendly concert begins at 4 p.m. Aug. 29, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m., at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 1390 Franklin Road in Yuba City.

"Everyone loves a good duet," said Curt Schroeder, vice president of The Acting Company. "We hear it on the radio and a wave of strong emotions rushes into our hearts, occupying every space, emotions that satisfy our human need for bonding with others. It is the goal of 'Two by Two' to build that wave to take with you as you leave our concert."

The performance will feature singers Matt DeMerritt, Kelly Scott, Melvina Bradford, Samuel Madrid and Karina Davis, along with dancers Amanda Stenzel and Christian De La Torre. Sam Scott will serve as emcee. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Steve Shepard, Rob Hilton, Caitlyn Warwick and Darren Shearer.

The program will feature selections from musical theater, film and popular music, highlighting some of entertainment's best-known duets and ensemble performances. Scheduled songs include "Tonight" from "West Side Story," "Summer Nights" from "Grease," "Agony" from "Into the Woods," "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked" and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from "Dirty Dancing."

Popular music selections include "Unchained Melody," made famous by The Righteous Brothers, ABBA's "Dancing Queen" and "Endless Love," originally performed by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie.

Single tickets are $25. The Acting Company also is offering donor opportunities at the $100, $250, $500 and $1,000 levels. Concessions will be available during the event.
