MARYSVILLE, CA (YSBC) - The Yuba-Sutter Freebirds picked up their first few wins of the second half of the Pioneer Baseball League throughout the past week.

Yuba-Sutter won three games as they took the series against Boise and took one game from Modesto.

The series against Boise was the only time the Freebirds and the Hawks will play one another during the 2026 PBL season.

In the two wins against Boise, the YS pitching staff had back-to-back quality outings throughout the first six innings.

Freebirds catcher Diego Aragon led the way in the series against the Hawks with four hits and infielder/catcher Zach Chamizo led the way with four runs-batted-in (RBIs).

YS won a one-run game against Modesto on July 24.

Freebirds starting pitcher Riley Egloff gave up a three-run home run in the first inning, but was lights out after that as he tossed six innings.

Egloff surrendered three hits, five walks and ended with eight punchouts as he took the win.

YS answered back in the second inning as they tied the game after a run-batted-in (RBI) double to left center by infielder Jordan Donahue.

Freebirds infielder Devon Dixon followed up the next at-bat with a two-run shot and tied the game at three.

Chamizo gave YS the lead in the fifth as he hit an RBI single.

Freebirds relievers’ Tristan Wolf and Rand Pfeifer shut the door on the Roadsters.

Pfeifer picked up his second save of the week and enjoyed picking up the save over his former team (Modesto).

Modesto followed up the end of the series with two big wins over YS.

The Freebirds started a series at home against Oakland on Tuesday that ran through Thursday.

YS will hit the road on Friday in a three-game set against Modesto that goes through Sunday, Aug. 2.
