Culinary Program Aids English Learners

YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Adults looking to improve their English while learning practical cooking skills will have an opportunity this fall through a free culinary training program offered by the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools.
The program, designed for English Language Learners, begins Sept. 14 and meets Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sutter County One Stop, 875 Harter Parkway in Yuba City.
Students will receive hands-on instruction in kitchen safety and sanitation, basic cooking techniques, measurements, mother sauces and the proper use of culinary equipment. Participants who successfully complete the course will earn a certificate of completion.
The class is open to adults ages 18 and older who meet eligibility requirements. There is no cost to participate.
