LONG BEACH, CA (YSBC) - The Yuba-Sutter Freebirds had a horrible start to the second half of the Pioneer Baseball League season as they opened with six-straight losses from July 14-19.

As Yuba-Sutter started with six-consecutive defeats, they lost the last 10 overall games up to the end of play on Sunday.

The Freebirds failed to score five or more runs in four of their contests last week.

The Yuba-Sutter pitching staff failed to have a quality start throughout the week, but had three games that were within reach of pulling out victories.

Freebirds infielder Zach Chamizo was the most consistent hitter for YS throughout the week as his eight-game hit streak end on Sunday in Long Beach.

Chamizo had six hits and one run-batted-in(RBI) throughout the week and drew six walks.

Yuba-Sutter is the lone team in the 12-team league searching for their first victory in the second half of the PBL season.

Billings and Long Beach secured the two open automatic playoff berths in the first half of the season as both secured 40-plus wins.

The Freebirds opened a three-game series against Boise on Tuesday, July 21 with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

Boise finished the first half with a .500 record and will make their first appearance in Marysville on Tuesday.

Boise primarily played the PBL teams outside of California with the exception of a short home series against Modesto.

This is only series that Yuba-Sutter and Boise will play all season long.
