SUTTER, CA (YSBC) - The North Valley 12 U travel baseball team gets the opportunity of a lifetime and make everlasting memories with their teammates as they play in the Cooperstown Baseball Tournament Experience July 11-17.

Cooperstown opens the opportunity for 15 weeks from May through August to allow various 12 U baseball teams to play a minimum of seven games throughout a week across 22 fields.

Stewart Peterson, head coach of the North Valley 12 U said that his players and families have raised over $30 thousand dollars over the past few years to participate in the week-long festivities.

Peterson said the squad has had multiple fundraisers and has been an overall-team effort to get a unique opportunity and make a lot of memories with one another.

He added that the athletes get to spend the whole week living inside the grounds.

The NV team will enjoy a week of playing on premier-fields, trading pins and even getting knowledge of the game from former big-leaguers.

Peterson said that former Major League Baseball players are present during the week of competition and are ambassadors of sharing their knowledge of the game along with displaying mentorship qualities.

Each team during the weekly tournament has multiple representatives chosen from each team that participate in different skills challenges such as turning a double play, fastest around the base paths, home run derby and a mom home run derby.

Petetson added that he is excited for his team to have a fun time in one of the most magical places in baseball.
