EAST NICOLAUS, CA (MPG) - A Rio Oso man was arrested Monday after deputies responded to a landlord-tenant dispute involving an alleged firearm in East Nicolaus.
The Sutter County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded July 6 after receiving a report that 62-year-old George "Randy" Purbaugh allegedly pointed a firearm at his tenants during the dispute.
When deputies arrived, they repeatedly ordered Purbaugh to exit the property, but he refused to comply.
Because of the reported presence of a firearm, the Sheriff's Office activated its Special Enforcement Detail. After continued communication with deputies, Purbaugh surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
Detectives later served a search warrant at the property and recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle and ammunition for both firearms.
Purbaugh was booked into the Sutter County Jail on suspicion of resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer, brandishing a firearm in a threatening manner, battery, assault with a firearm and criminal threats.
