YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) – The Yuba Sutter Symphony will continue its Independence Day tradition with a free patriotic concert Saturday, July 4, at the Yuba City Town Square Fountain following the Children's Parade.

The concert begins at 10:15 a.m. and will feature the orchestra under the direction of Maestro Corey Kersting.

"The Symphony performance as part of the Children's Parade really brings people together and gives a great patriotic feeling to start your holiday," Kersting said.

The program will include patriotic favorites such as "The Stars and Stripes Forever," "God Bless America" and the finale from the "1812 Overture," along with other selections. The Sutter Buttes Brass also will perform during the concert.

"This is one of my favorite concerts of the year," Kersting said. "People of all ages are there waving flags, singing along, and celebrating our nation's birthday. I always look forward to the audience helping produce the simulated cannon shots during the '1812 Overture.'"

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, watch the conclusion of the Children's Parade and enjoy free refreshments provided by the Yuba City Fire Department and Yuba City Parks and Recreation.

Children also will have an opportunity to conduct the orchestra during its performance of "The Stars and Stripes Forever."

The concert is presented free as a gift to the community by the Yuba Sutter Symphony.

"This is a great community, family event, and we hope you will join us," Kersting said.
