OAKLAND, CA (YSBC) - The Yuba-Sutter Freebirds dropped their third-consecutive series of June on Sunday, June 28 as they lost to the Oakland Ballers 11-10.

Yuba-Sutter struggled in June as they had a record of 6-17 after the conclusion of play on Sunday in Oakland.

The Freebirds started off the series against their NorCal rivals with a win on June 26, but dropped two-consecutive one run games on Saturday and Sunday.

YS had an early four-run lead on Sunday, but Oakland finally adjusted to Freebirds starter Anthony Silvas on the rubber as they took a 5-4 lead in the sixth.

The Ballers handed YS reliever Dylan McCall his second-consecutive rough outing on the rubber as they rallied three runs off him in the seventh that extended their lead 8-4.

The Freebirds took a 10-8 lead in the eighth after they played six runs across the plate after Christian Castaneda and Jordan Donahue pelted two balls to left center.

Castaneda’s blast was a two-run shot and Donahue’s was a grand slam.

Freebirds infielder Josh Duarte led YS with two hits in the loss.

YS began a three-game series against with Modesto on Tuesday at Bryant Field prior to hosting Long Beach for a three-game set on Friday, July 3.

First pitches for Friday and Saturday’s game against Long Beach is scheduled for 5 p.m. and it will return back to 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 5 following the holiday.
