Sutter Shooters Earn State Runner-Up Honors

SUTTER, CA (MPG) - The Sutter High School Shotgun Shooting Team brought home a pair of second-place finishes at the California Youth Shooting Sports Association State Trap Shooting Championships held June 13-14 in Livermore.

Competing against approximately 400 youth shooters from across California, both the Sutter High School varsity and junior varsity teams earned second-place finishes in Division III competition.

Participants shot 100 targets each day for a total of 200 targets over the two-day championship event.

The Sutter varsity team included Logan Munger, Garrett Bartels, Ceasar Moulton, Nic Miller, Manny Moulton, Dixie Bybee, Jonathan Mendez and Tyler Fletcher.

The junior varsity team included Landon McCracken, Logan McCracken, Kimber Benzel, Hunter Berry, Trusten Dentzer, Ismael Collins, Riley Jennings, Aidan Jewell and Bailey Crabtree.

In addition to the team award, a varsity squad of five shooters also earned second place in squad competition. The squad consisted of Logan Munger, Garrett Bartels, Nic Miller, Manny Moulton and Dixie Bybee.

Head Coach Dave Samson praised the athletes for their performance and sportsmanship throughout the championship.

"I could not be more proud of this team," Samson said.

Samson noted that a team score includes all shooters on a team, while a squad consists of five shooters competing together within their classification.
