SUTTER, CA (YSBC) - The Sutter Union Huskies softball team lost their second opportunity to take down the Destiny Christian Academy Lions in a 14-3 defeat on April 28.
Sutter dropped the first Golden Empire League matchup to DCA on March 26 in a 4-0 loss.
The Huskies had four GEL games last week as they added a makeup game against Woodland on April 29 along with their series against Casa Roble (Orangevale).
The Lions came out swinging early on and racked up runs within the first couple of innings and built a comfortable 8-0 lead after two.

Sutter junior pitcher Brooklyn Murphey was hitting her spots, but DCA made good contact with the ball at the plate and challenged the Huskies defense throughout the game.
Murphey pitched three in the loss and was relieved by sophomore Ryleigh Lemenager in the fourth.
Huskies junior infielder Malaina Wilder tallied a couple hits for Sutter in the loss.
Huskies head coach Taylor Ernst told Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that her team ended the loss with positive momentum as they were able to find the ball well at the plate against Lions senior pitcher Roxanne Sardo.
Sutter was ranked as the No. 3 best team in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division V in the latest poll released by MaxPreps on April 30.

The Huskies took care of business against Woodland and Casa Roble to end April with two-clutch victories to clinch the third automatic postseason berth from the GEL.
The Huskies swept Rio Linda in their two games played throughout GEL play.
Sutter hosted River Valley on Monday, May 4 in a non-league matchup and Ernst told YSBC it’s going to be a fun matchup.
“All of the girls know one another and have played either together or against one another for years,” Ernst said.
She added that it will be a good game as they are going to get a game against another playoff-caliber team heading into the postseason.
