YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - A Yuba City business will host a community flag exchange May 20, giving residents a chance to receive a free American flag ahead of Memorial Day.

Oakview Insurance Services will hold its ninth annual flag exchange from 4 to 6 p.m. at 1670 Sierra Ave., Suite 303 (directly across the street from Tractor Supply Co.). The event is open to the public, and no exchange is required to receive a flag.

Those with worn or damaged flags can also bring them for proper retirement. Organizers said the flags will be handled through the Yuba-Sutter Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

“This event is about bringing our community together to honor the American flag and the men and women who protect and serve our country every day,” said Mariah Davis, owner of Oakview Insurance Services.

Davis said the goal is to ensure more homes display flags heading into the holiday.

“We want to make sure every family heading into Memorial Day weekend has a flag flying in front of their home,” Davis said.

The event will also include free tacos, and lemondate and family activities during the two-hour window.
