YUBA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Yuba County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 this week to approve a $10 million loan aimed at closing a funding gap for the South County Infrastructure Project, a regional wastewater effort serving the Wheatland area.

According to county officials, the loan will allow the project to move forward while securing approximately $75 million in state grant funding tied to the effort. The project is intended to support growing communities in Wheatland, Plumas Lake and Olivehurst by expanding wastewater infrastructure and accommodating future development. Officials say the investment could also help stabilize or prevent future sewer rate increases for residents in those areas.

Supporters of the project point to its potential economic impact, including job creation and increased tax revenue tied to long-term growth in South Yuba County. Additional details on loan terms, project timelines and construction phases were not immediately available.
