Army Veteran Honored in Dobbins

DOBBINS, CA (MPG) - Army veteran Kayla Deen was laid to rest Sunday, March 29 during a service at Keystone Cemetery attended by more than 100 community members, veterans and family.
Deen’s flag-draped coffin was carried between two rows of veterans, with members of the Patriot Riders holding American flags on one side and American Legion Post 705 members in full dress uniform rendering hand salutes on the other.

At the gravesite, the U.S. Army provided full military honors, including a three-member rifle team firing M-14 rifles and a bugler performing taps. Following the ceremony, the folded American flag was presented and Post 705 honor guard member Joe Sola presented three polished rifle rounds to the family, symbolizing duty, honor and country.
Additional tributes were given by Blue Star Mothers and the Patriot Riders, who each presented plaques in Deen’s honor. An Army chaplain led the Lord’s Prayer, followed by a eulogy. Community members gathered in large numbers to pay their respects and support Deen’s family.
