YUBA-SUTTER, CA (MPG) - Cornerstone Church in Yuba City kicked off the Easter season early this year with an immersive “Walk With Jesus” experience, inviting families to step into the story of the holiday.

The hourlong presentation allowed attendees to interact with presenters and participate in hands-on activities while learning about the biblical story of Easter. Families also explored a “first-century market,” complete with games, art projects and candy-filled Easter egg hunts.

While Cornerstone may have gotten an early start on the season, there are plenty of opportunities for local families to join the celebrations this coming weekend. Many Yuba-Sutter area events are scheduled for Saturday, March 28, offering a full day of egg hunts, scavenger hunts and spring-themed activities across the region.

In Sutter, the third annual SYO Egg Hunt will begin at 9 a.m. at 7740 Butte House Road, featuring donuts, face painting, crafts and photos with the Easter Bunny. Also at 9 a.m., Yuba City Parks and Recreation will host Breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 9 to 11 a.m. at 777 Ainsley Ave., offering a relaxed morning of Easter activities. No RSVP is required.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Children’s Choice Dental Care will host a free family Easter event at Sam Brannan Park in Yuba City, with face painting, bunny photos, an egg hunt, activities, prizes and refreshments.

At 11 a.m., the Yuba County Office of Education will open its Spring Egg-Stravaganza at 429 10th St. in Marysville, featuring food, games, activities and an egg hunt for children ages 2 to 12. At the same time, downtown Yuba City will host the Bunny Hop Scavenger Hunt, encouraging families to explore local businesses while participating in a spring-themed activity.

Later in the day, the second annual Easter Egg Hut is scheduled for 1 p.m. at 56 Second St. in Yuba City.

Events continue Sunday, March 29, with the Yuba-Sutter Marketplace Spring Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1215 Colusa Ave. in Yuba City, featuring a petting zoo, face painting, balloon art, indoor egg hunts and visits from the Easter Bunny.

Additional events are planned for Saturday, April 4, including the Adventure Church community Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon at River Valley High School in Yuba City, featuring more than 70,000 eggs, and the YFACA annual Easter egg hunt from 1 to 3 p.m. at 9186 Marysville Road in Oregon House.
