YUBA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office recognized the service and dedication of its reserve deputies during its annual Reserve Dinner Awards Banquet on Saturday, March 7. Sheriff Wendell Anderson presented several awards honoring reserve deputies for their contributions during 2025, highlighting the role volunteers play in supporting the department’s patrol and corrections operations.

Reserve Deputy Harold Hazlett was recognized for more than 40 years of service with the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Program. Reserve Deputy William “Bill” Siler received the Reserve Workhorse of the Year Award after logging 1,052 hours of service in 2025, while Reserve Deputy Neal Houston was named the department’s 2025 Reserve Deputy of the Year.

The department also presented special commendations to reserve deputies who each contributed more than 300 hours of service during the year. According to the sheriff’s office, reserve deputies often serve as volunteers alongside full-time personnel, bringing experience from other careers or continuing to serve after retiring from law enforcement.

Their work helps support patrol coverage, corrections operations and other duties that assist the department in serving the community.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said its reserve program currently has openings for volunteers interested in serving in patrol or corrections. Applicants can apply through the government jobs website https://www.yuba.gov/departments/sheriff-coroner/reserves.php
