YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - An interactive Wild West murder mystery dinner theater event will take over the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts later this month, offering guests an evening of food, entertainment and sleuthing while raising money for local arts and education programs.
“Murder at the Rusty Spittoon Saloon: A Soggy Bottom Whodunit” is scheduled for March 27 and 28 at the theater, located at 754 Plumas St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the performance beginning at 6 p.m.
The event is presented as a joint fundraiser benefiting the Marysville Joint Unified School District Education Foundation, Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture and the Yuba-Sutter Rotary Night Club. Guests will take part in an interactive theatrical mystery set in the fictional Old West town of Soggy Bottom Ridge, where attendees will mingle with characters, gather clues and attempt to determine who committed the crime before the evening concludes.
The show was created by Shelly Lohman and is directed by Lohman and Eric Preston.
“It’s a night of ridiculous drama, wild accusations and laugh-out-loud surprises,” Preston said in a statement. “Everyone becomes part of the story as the mystery unfolds.”
In addition to the performance, attendees will receive a barbecue dinner prepared by the Silver Dollar Saloon and have access to a no-host bar. The evening will also feature raffles, drinking games and both live and silent auctions.
Organizers say proceeds from the event will support educational enrichment opportunities for students in the Marysville Joint Unified School District, arts programming through Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture and community service projects led by the Yuba-Sutter Rotary Night Club.
Tickets are $40 per person and are available at yubasutterarts.org or by calling 530-742-2787. The event is open to guests age 21 and older.
