SUTTER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Sutter County resident Liz Davit has announced her candidacy for Sutter County Treasurer–Tax Collector, citing financial experience and a commitment to full-time public service.

Davit, a third-generation Sutter County resident, said she is running to provide financial accountability and leadership in the county office responsible for safeguarding taxpayer funds.

“As Treasurer–Tax Collector, I understand the immense responsibility of safeguarding taxpayer dollars while delivering responsive and respectful customer service,” Davit said. “Taxpayers deserve diligence, accountability, and leadership that treats every public dollar with care.”

Davit graduated from Yuba City High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance. She has also passed the Certified Public Accountant exam.

For the past 30 years, Davit has worked for the Yuba City Unified School District. She currently serves as a department head overseeing more than 200 employees and managing a multimillion-dollar budget.

Davit said her experience in public sector finance has focused on maintaining transparency and responsible management of public funds.

She also said the role of treasurer–tax collector should be treated as a full-time commitment to county residents.

“I believe that when taxpayers fund a full-time salary, they deserve full-time representation,” Davit said. “The Treasurer–Tax Collector should be committed to working in the office full time to ensure the office is run efficiently and effectively to serve our taxpayers.”

Davit and her husband, Ranjit, are local farmers who have raised their three children in Sutter County.
