YUBA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Yuba County will conduct two public hearings next month to discuss a proposed application for funding under the State Community Development Block Grant Program to rehabilitate the Life Building Center operated by Habitat for Humanity of Yuba/Sutter.
The hearings will provide residents with an opportunity to comment on the proposed CDBG-funded project, identified community needs and the county’s application prior to submission.
The meetings are scheduled from 5:30 to 6 p.m. March 10 via Zoom, https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86478745286?pwd=JlR78JfXPwmb0xKQlSfx9QCs1StdSY.1, and from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. March 12 in the community room at Habitat for Humanity – Prosperity Village, 1111 N. Beale Road in Marysville.
Yuba County intends to apply for State CDBG funds to support rehabilitation of the Life Building Center, a community facility at 131 F St. in Marysville operated by Habitat for Humanity of Yuba/Sutter. The center serves as a community hub providing workforce development programming, financial literacy education, homeownership counseling, volunteer coordination and community engagement activities.
The proposed project includes improvements to ensure the building remains safe, accessible and fully functional for the low- and moderate-income individuals and families it serves. Planned upgrades may include building system improvements, accessibility enhancements and other work designed to extend the facility’s useful life.
The project is estimated not to exceed $3 million, subject to final scope confirmation. Funds would support rehabilitation activities such as siding replacement, window repair or replacement, flooring installation and related construction costs. Habitat for Humanity of Yuba/Sutter will serve as the project developer and operator.
Additional work under consideration includes HVAC system replacement. Planned improvements also address deteriorated siding, improperly installed windows causing water intrusion and other health and safety repairs necessary to preserve the facility and ensure continued service delivery.
Information about the project is available at the Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter office, 202 D St., Marysville, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by email at [email protected].
Residents unable to attend the hearings may submit written comments to Yuba County or contact administration at 530-742-2727 or [email protected] no later than 5 p.m. March 23 to ensure placement in the official record.
