Rice Workshop Set for March in Richvale

SACRAMENTO VALLEY, CA (MPG) - Rice growers and agricultural professionals will gather March 18 and 19 for the 2026 Rice Production Workshop in Richvale.
The two-day program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Lundberg Family Farms, 5311 Midway. Organizers said the workshop will focus on core principles and field practices for California rice production.
The University of California Cooperative Extension is hosting the event in collaboration with the University of California, Davis and the California Rice Experiment Station. Organizers said the program will provide research-based information aimed at supporting rice production in the Sacramento Valley.
Topics will include rice growth and development, land formation, varieties, planting and stand establishment, water and fertility management, weed control, insect and vertebrate pests, diseases and pest identification.
Speakers will include UC and UCCE specialists and researchers Bruce Linquist, Whitney Brim-DeForest, Kassim Al-Khatib, Luis Espino, Michelle Leinfelder-Miles, Ian Grettenberger and Sarah Marsh Janish.
The registration fee is $200 and includes a workshop manual and lunch both days. The deadline to register is March 15. Participants may register online at https://link.ucanr.edu/riceworkshop2026.
Organizers have requested continuing education credits from the Department of Pesticide Regulation and Certified Crop Adviser program.
