MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Marysville Elks Lodge was filled Thursday, Feb. 5, as residents gathered to celebrate the city’s 175th anniversary.

The evening featured a historical presentation by Chuck Smith that highlighted key moments and figures that helped shape Marysville’s early development. Guests also viewed displays recognizing influential individuals from the city’s past, including early business owners, civic leaders and longtime advocates for incorporation.

The celebration included special recognition of 22 local businesses and organizations that have operated in Marysville for at least 100 years, honoring their lasting role in the community.

The event concluded with the Marysville City Council receiving proclamations commemorating the milestone from the Yuba County Board of Supervisors, the Sutter County Board of Supervisors and the Yuba City City Council.

Guests enjoyed refreshments and cake to close out the festivities. Select attendees also received a commemorative challenge coin engraved with “175 years” and the phrase, “Honoring history, building for the future.”

Additional celebrations were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Marysville Banquet Hall. Community members gathered for historic presentations, gold panning activities and guided tours of local museums and other historic sites throughout the city.

Several historical panels displayed during the anniversary events are now available for public viewing in the lobby of Marysville City Hall.
