YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Yuba City Police Lt. Michelle Brazil has retired after 24 years with the Yuba City Police Department, concluding a career that included patrol, investigations, training and leadership roles.

Brazil’s service was recognized last month when she received the department’s Meritorious Service Medal. Mayor Marc Boomgaarden and members of the Yuba City Council also presented her with a city proclamation, citing her long-standing commitment to public safety and the community.

Brazil joined the department in 2002 and served as a police officer, sergeant and lieutenant. During her career, she worked in a variety of assignments, including training new officers, investigating major crimes, serving as a hostage negotiator and leading specialized units.

Department officials said Brazil demonstrated professionalism and steady leadership throughout her tenure. She received multiple awards over the years for leadership, teamwork and lifesaving actions.

The department credited Brazil with supporting officer safety, strengthening departmental operations and maintaining a high level of service to Yuba City residents.
