NEVADA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The South Yuba River Citizens League will bring its annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival back to Nevada City and Grass Valley from Feb. 19 through Feb. 23, featuring a new slate of environmental and adventure films focused on inspiring action.
The nationally recognized festival, now in its 24th year, will once again offer both in-person and virtual screenings. Organizers said the hybrid format is intended to broaden access while maintaining the community experience at downtown venues.
The 2026 theme, “Mobilize,” centers on individuals and communities responding to environmental and social challenges with urgency and persistence. Festival organizers said the selected films highlight grassroots efforts as well as large-scale collaborations working toward measurable change.
The program includes award-winning films addressing topics such as conservation, climate change, wildlife, water, energy, agriculture and environmental justice. The films pair cinematic storytelling with messages aimed at encouraging civic and community engagement.
The festival is presented by the South Yuba River Citizens League, a Nevada City-based nonprofit founded in 1983 that works to protect and restore rivers throughout the regional watershed. Organizers said the event reflects the group’s mission by connecting local river advocacy to global environmental efforts.
Following the Nevada County screenings, the festival will continue its annual tour with more than 100 partner-hosted events nationwide. A full schedule and film lineup are available at wsff.eventive.org.
