YUBA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Free, in-person personal income tax preparation services will be available this tax season at the Alcouffe Center in Oregon House through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program, marking the first time Yuba County has hosted an in-person AARP Tax-Aide site. The new service expands access to trusted tax assistance for residents of all ages.

Services will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays from Feb. 7 through April 11. Assistance will be provided by IRS-certified volunteer tax counselors who have completed AARP Foundation Tax-Aide’s required training. Appointments are required; walk-ins cannot be accommodated.

“The majority of personal income tax returns can be prepared on-site,” said Margaret Fowler, program director for the Yuba Foothills Seniors on the Go program and an IRS-certified AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteer counselor. “Some returns may be outside the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program scope and cannot be prepared through this service.”

The program is made possible through AARP Foundation IRS-certified training and support from Seniors on the Go – Yuba Foothills volunteers, with funding assistance provided through community fundraising efforts and the Yuba Foothills Agricultural Communities Association.

Organizers hope to establish a successful first year and continue offering free personal income tax preparation services annually to the community.
