SUTTER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office recognized Dispatcher Brandy Curt with a Commander’s Commendation for her actions during a life-threatening emergency on Dec. 24, 2025.

Just after midnight, Curt received a 911 call from a motorist who had been swept off a bridge by fast-moving floodwaters near Highway 113 and Kirksville Road. The caller was trapped inside his vehicle approximately 50 feet from land, with no nearby structures for safety.

Remaining calm under extreme pressure, Curt gathered critical information and provided clear, life-saving instructions while coordinating a rapid response from deputies, fire personnel and the Swift Water Rescue Team.

Dispatcher supervisor Taemi Weathers assisted by dispatching fire personnel, managing incoming calls and keeping responding units updated throughout the incident. This teamwork allowed Curt to remain focused on calming the caller and relaying key details to responders.

Due to the coordinated response, the Swift Water Rescue Team safely rescued the motorist.
