YUBA CITY, CA (YSBC) - The Faith Christian community celebrated and witnessed history on Jan. 30 as Lions senior guard Lauren Harris added a new title to her legacy in high school athletics.
Harris nailed her 640th career three-point shot in high school and became the queen of the threes as she was mobbed by her teammates shortly after a big sigh of relief.
Harris is no stranger to holding records as she achieved two California state records in the 2024-25 season for the most three pointers made in a single season (191).
She also surpassed the old state record of 486 career three pointers in last year's Nor Cal playoffs.
Harris expressed to Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that it was a surreal feeling to hold a national record.
With two minutes and eight seconds left in the first half, Harris hit a corner three and the Lions Den shook Sutter county with cheers and excitement as she hit her fourth three of the night to break the national record.

Harris said she forced her shot selection early in the game, but after she was successful in making her third one to tie the record, she was able to play her game.
When Harris signed her national letter of intent to play for Long Beach State in November and spoke, she ended it with saying the younger version of herself, “little Lauren would be proud.”
Harris said that little Lauren wouldn’t believe it where things have gone over the years.
On Jan. 29, Harris was named to the McDonald’s All-American West nominee list. Harris was ecstatic and happy about the recognition of being nominated with a lot of other great female basketball athletes throughout the country.
“My sister texted me on the way to practice and I was in shock,” Harris said. “Being nominated is crazy and I don’t even know how to put it into words.”
She added that she was so happy she got to share the record at home in front of the support that her and her teammates have had forever in the Den.
“I’ve been a member and raised by this school since I was in pre-school,” Harris told YSBC. “It’s the best feeling ever because I learned to love basketball here.”
As there were multiple events going on in the Den Friday night, including homecoming festivities, Harris told YSBC that as a team they still have goals to accomplish in 2026.
Harris finished with seven three’s and has the record currently at 643 in her career.

The Lions easily took control in their victory over Sacramento Country Day and moved to 19-1 on the season and stayed undefeated in Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League play.
Harris said that as a team, the Lions can’t rely on past success and expect things to come to them.
“We need to put that in the past,” Harris said. “We have bigger goals we can accomplish. We can’t settle, can’t be comfortable, just need to keep working hard.”
Harris’s love for her teammates is visible each contest and it’s clear she is their biggest cheerleader.
When Harris is on the bench, she is the first one up jumping off the chair cheering for her teammates on the floor.
“I love sharing my love for basketball with them because I’m happy they have a smile on their face on the court like I do,” Harris said.
