DOBBINS, CA (MPG) - A vehicle fire involving a pickup truck towing a fifth-wheel trailer was safely handled Sunday afternoon, Jan. 26, thanks to quick action by first responders and community members, according to the Dobbins–Oregon House Fire Department.
Fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire and arrived to find the cab and engine compartment of the pickup truck fully involved. The driver was initially unable to exit the vehicle because it would not shift into park. Community members and a Yuba County Sheriff’s Office deputy placed wheel chocks, allowing the driver to safely exit.
During the incident, the driver’s dog was rescued from the trailer with assistance from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office later recognized Sgt. Thomas, who was first on scene, for helping the driver to safety and removing the dog from danger.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and were able to save the fifth-wheel trailer. The burned vehicle was removed from the roadway by B & K Towing of Brownsville, while a friend of the driver later towed the trailer to a local campground.
No injuries were reported.
