YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Sutter County Board of Supervisors is inviting residents of all ages to take part in a countywide drawing contest celebrating “Your Favorite Place in Sutter County,” encouraging creativity while highlighting community pride and local landmarks. Entries are being accepted through 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20.

This marks the second time the Board of Supervisors has hosted an art contest. A similar contest held in 2023 featured a coloring competition with comparable guidelines, county officials said.

“We’re always looking for meaningful ways to connect with our community, and this contest is a fun way to highlight the creativity of our local youth,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Mike Ziegenmeyer. “It’s an opportunity to recognize the pride our residents have in Sutter County and the places that are special to them.”

The contest includes four age categories: 5 and under, 6-10, 11-15 and 16 and older. One winner will be selected from each group. Each winner will receive an art set, funded by the board members themselves, and will be given the opportunity to be recognized at a future Board of Supervisors meeting.

Contest guidelines require all artwork to be original, with one entry allowed per participant. Drawings must be completed on 8½-by-11-inch paper. Participants are asked to clearly write their name, age and contact phone number on the back of their artwork. Completed entries must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board by the deadline at 1160 Civic Center Blvd., Suite A, Yuba City.

Following the contest, submitted artwork will be displayed for a period of time in the lobby at 1160 Civic Center Blvd., allowing the public to view the community’s creative interpretations of Sutter County.

Drawing contest guidelines are available for pickup at the Sutter County Library, the Sutter County Museum, the County Administrator’s Office and the Clerk-Recorder’s Office. Guidelines can also be downloaded from the county’s website. Additional information about the Sutter County Board of Supervisors Drawing Contest is available at http://www.suttercounty.org.
