SUTTER, CA (YSBC) - The Sutter Union Huskies girls soccer team took sole position of third place in the Golden Empire League after they shut out the Casa Roble Rams 2-0 on Jan. 12.
Sutter completed its fifth match in a row on Monday without tasting defeat as they improved their overall record to 9-4-2 (4-2, GEL).
Huskies head coach Tim Danna told Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports pregame the key to getting a victory over Casa Roble was to pressure them early on and find a way to get a score early on.
Sutter accomplished that in the seventh minute as freshman Preslee Wilder gave the Huskies the early lead off a rebound shot into the left side of the net.

Sutter controlled the ball for most of the first half and detoured the Rams any offensive momentum. The Huskies were more physical and won multiple 50-50 balls.
Danna expressed to YSBC that the team has bought into the process, and it says a lot for being a primarily young program.
The Sutter roster consists of a quarter of it being upper classmen and Danna said they have done a great job throughout the entire year.
Huskies junior Ashlyn Van Dusen extended the Sutter lead to two in the 67th minute after she tapped the ball in off a corner kick from sophomore Reece Keslinger.

Huskies sophomore goaltender Zoey Plant recorded her 11th shutout on the season. Plant was lights out in the net for Sutter and had great vision and instincts against Casa Roble.
Danna said that he is confident in his team to continue playing great soccer for the rest of the regular season as the Huskies aim to shoot for another playoff berth.
