YUBA/SUTTER, CA (MPG) - Big plans for Tower Plaza in Yuba City were rained out on New Year’s Eve, canceling what would have been the first live music event of its kind at the newly opened park.

Celebrations were instead moved to nearby E&J’s Music Lounge and Hooligans. Milani Sound and Lights, Canopy Productions, Steele House Coffee and MoonTower Events were credited with helping organize the free, all-ages community celebration. Headlining acts included Hometown Heathens, ONOFF and Heirloom, alongside local DJs.

Across the bridge in Marysville, Silver Dollar Saloon pulled out all the stops with a red, white and blue-themed party celebrating 250 years of liberty and freedom.

Admission to the saloon’s “Let Freedom Ring” event included a tri-tip and barbecue chicken dinner, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, champagne and activities such as face painting and two balloon drops held at 9 p.m. and midnight. Live entertainment featured local bands and musicians including FRED, the Ray Allen Band and Joren Ferrie.

Additional New Year’s events were held throughout the region. Moonshiners in Olivehurst hosted a country-themed, cover-free event featuring the band Sweet Revenge, while the Moose Lodge in Yuba City welcomed Industrial Drive, a classic rock cover band.

Those hoping to keep an eye — and ear — on local live music events heading into 2026 may want to follow community pages such as “Yuba Sutter CA Friends of Art & Music” on social media.
