YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is continuing its longstanding tradition of promoting the region’s talented artists with a special Holiday Art Market at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts. The event offers a chance to complete last-minute holiday shopping while supporting local creators and the local economy.

The Sutter Theater Center for the Arts is more than just a performance venue; it is also home to The Art Box, an ever-changing gallery space. This month’s exhibit is especially notable, featuring multiple guest artists alongside anchor artists Emily Cordi, Laurie Trent-Busch and Drew Sallee. Cordi creates artwork using recycled and foraged materials, drawing inspiration from the wildlife, nature, agriculture and landscapes surrounding the Sutter Buttes near her family’s winery. Trent-Busch designs jewelry from vintage china and repurposed silverware, transforming neglected pieces into wearable art that conveys themes of family and love. Sallee, a Navy veteran and retired arts educator, serves as the gallery’s resident master ceramics artist.

Additional featured artists include Beverly Cameron-Fildes, Kathy Childers, McKayla McIssac, Pamela Nowak, Kate Stauss and Jeanette Warner.

Events like the Holiday Art Market play an important role in rural communities such as Yuba-Sutter. By highlighting local talent, the exhibit serves as a meaningful gathering space during a season centered on connection and community pride. It provides artists with crucial visibility and potential income while offering residents access to affordable, original artwork close to home. The exhibit also supports the local economy by drawing visitors to nearby businesses, contributing to the region’s cultural and commercial vitality.
