MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - First 5 Yuba County has been awarded a $140,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to bring expert child passenger safety education to families across our rural communities. This program serves children of all ages, from infants to older children in booster seats & beyond, ensuring every family has the knowledge and resources to keep their children safe on the road.

“Every child deserves to ride safely, and every family deserves expert support to make that happen,” said Ericka Summers, Executive Director of First 5 Yuba County. “Our certified technicians are here to answer your questions, provide hands-on training, and ensure every caregiver in your child's life knows how to protect them properly.”

Our certified technicians provide personalized guidance on proper installation, selecting the right seat, and safe transitions between seat types.

The child passenger safety program includes the following.

Child safety seat inspection events and education classes throughout Yuba County, one-on-one consultations with certified technicians, hands-on installation and support for all caregivers, child safety seats provided to ensure appropriate protection, resources and training for local organizations serving children and families and dedicated outreach in underserved and rural communities.

The program runs through September 2026 and serves children of all ages.
