YUBA/SUTTER COUNTIES, CA (MPG) - The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) selected Bi-County Health Officer Dr. Phuong Luu as a recipient of its prestigious Circle of Service Award. The award is given to county officials, staff and association partners whose commitment and leadership have gone substantially above and beyond in advancing the work of counties statewide.

The California State Association of Counties noted that Dr. Luu’s contributions have strengthened the statewide partnership among counties and state agencies. The statewide association highlighted Dr. Luu's leadership in implementing the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal Justice-Involved Initiative (CalAIM JI) in the Yuba-Sutter area, with Yuba County being one of the first counties to go live with CalAIM JI and Sutter County going live shortly after.

The initiative expands coordinated health care services for individuals returning to the community after incarceration. Following successful local implementation, Dr. Luu has shared her experience with county counterparts throughout California as they work through similar efforts.

The Circle of Service Award was presented to Dr. Luu during California State Association of Counties General Session on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center as part of the association’s 131th Annual Meeting.
