YUBA CITY, CA (YSBC) - The Faith Christian community gathered in the Lions Den on Nov. 25 as they celebrated two senior multi-sport athletes furthering their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level by signing National Letters of Intent.

Faith Christian senior guard Lauren Harris signed her NLI with California State University, Long Beach and senior forward Presley Berry signed with Concordia University of Irvine.

The Lions’ dynamic duo has led Faith Christian on the hardwood for the past three seasons with a bunch of accolades, which includes two section titles, at least a share of two Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League titles and one out right, and were the 2025 NorCal Division VI champions.

Harris and Berry’s senior volleyball season wrapped up on Nov. 18, when they participated in the CIF NorCal final with a defeat to Big Valley Christian (Modesto).

Lions assistant Shane Berry and head coach Geoff Harris gave heartfelt speeches and shared funny stories to open the festivities.

During the speeches, they expressed the rarity of high school athletes who are capable of receiving full-ride scholarships and Faith Christian was blessed to have two on Tuesday night.

Lauren told Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that Long Beach was the right destination for her to land because they made her feel comfortable and wanted.

“I feel like I can grow there tremendously,” Lauren said. “They’re going to push me to be a better version of myself on and off the court.”

Lauren added that during her visit, she and her future teammates went out to dinner off campus and where they talked about the coaches and asked her questions about her life.

“They had a lot of good icebreakers that made me feel more comfortable and was a judgement-free zone and that’s the type of place I wanted to be in,” Lauren laughed.

Presley told YSBC that Concordia was the right environment for her because it had a similar feel to Faith Christian.

“Concordia really stuck out to me with their values and beliefs,” Presley said.

In Shane’s speech, he referenced that Concordia was a place Presley expressed high interest in since she was younger. “It’s a surreal feeling,” Presley said. “It’s a testament of God's faithfulness in my life throughout this whole journey.”

Lauren and Presley both expressed to YSBC that they can go into the rest of their senior basketball season with no more distractions and want to end it on a high note.

Shane told YSBC that when they met Eagles head coach Christine Collins-Kiernan on Presley’s official visit, she was the right coach to continue with.

Geoff expressed that the entire coaching staff at Long Beach was incredible to be around.

“When you get to hang out with someone, you get to know who they really are,” Geoff said.

YSBC would like to extend our congratulations to both Lauren and Presley and thank you for inviting us to your important day!
