YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture proudly announces the return of The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular, a joyful, laugh-filled holiday production celebrating generosity, community and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Directed by Betsy Johnson, the production brings back the beloved characters and heartfelt humor that first delighted audiences in 2021 — this time with an expanded cast and an even bigger community mission.

Performances will be held at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts, 754 Plumas Street in Yuba City, and are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and Sundays, Nov. 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at yubasutterarts.org or in the box office, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Synopsis: The big-hearted women of the Charitable Sisterhood are gearing up for their annual holiday fundraiser when disaster strikes — the Baby Jesus has gone missing from the nativity! Their frantic, funny and heartfelt search sets off a chain of mishaps that challenge their patience and deepen their bond. Full of quick laughs, warm moments and the spirit of giving, The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular is a festive comedy about community, compassion and finding joy amidst chaos. The all-star cast includes Janine Clements, Jessy Stein, Wendi Jellsey, Tanda Phelps, Cassie Fifield, Sydney Mabee and Jeff Graham. Back stage and technical support will be provided by Lori Moye, Sue Justus, Nici Powers, Kati Milani, Jaylynn Shoemaker and honorary “Sisters” Mccai Phelps, Ben Fifield and Joe Moye.

Director Betsy Johnson said, “Having done the Charitable Sisterhood first in 2021 at the Acting Company, as the first live production locally following the COVID pandemic, it brought me such joy and laughter when it was so very needed that we had to bring it back for an encore,” said Director Betsy Johnson. “These 'sisters' are once again giving more than they take and my heart is full of love for all of them. At a time in our history with so much division, I think we can all agree that the world needs more love and laughter right now — and we ‘sisters’ are here to share it!"

Betsy added, "That all proceeds from the show will go toward the continued renovation of the Sutter Theater (which has become a second home to many of us) is just the wrapping on the gift! Here’s hoping our community gives for giving’s sake and gets us closer to the ultimate goal of finishing this theater for our community, all while having a few laughs. Come one. Come all ages! Start your holiday off with the hilarity of the ‘Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular.’
