Sutter County Sheriff’s Office Encourages a Safe and Peaceful Sikh Parade Weekend

YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents and visitors that the annual Sikh Parade will take place this weekend in Yuba City. This event brings together tens of thousands of people from across the world to celebrate culture, community and tradition.

With large crowds expected throughout the weekend, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to plan ahead, remain patient and contribute to a peaceful and respectful environment. Deputies will have an increased presence in the area to ensure public safety and assist with traffic control.

The Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind the public of Section 415 of the California Penal Code, which outlines offenses related to disturbing the peace:

Penal Code 415:

Any of the following persons shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 90 days, a fine of not more than $400, or both:

Any person who unlawfully fights in a public place or challenges another person in a public place to fight.

Any person who maliciously and willfully disturbs another person by loud and unreasonable noise.

 Any person who uses offensive words in a public place which are inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction.

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office asks all attendees to celebrate responsibly, respect others, and report any suspicious or unlawful behavior to law enforcement immediately.
