YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Many in our community have asked how they can personally assist Beale’s Airmen and civilian families during the shutdown. The answer is simple — help fill a Ford truck (or two!) with diapers, thanks to the partnership between Geweke Ford Kia and BMLC Inc., to deliver to Beale for distribution to those in need.
“Diapers are an essential expense that can quickly burden families already managing uncertainty,” said Sami Nall, Chair of BMLC Inc. “and this drive is one small but meaningful way our community can stand with those who serve — both in uniform and in civilian roles.”
Earlier in the shutdown, BMLC Inc. worked with local grocers to create a 10% discount program for affected military and civilian employees and encouraged area financial institutions to provide short-term assistance to existing customers. The diaper drive continues that commitment by addressing one of the most immediate and unmet family needs.
The drive will collect new, sealed packages of diapers and baby wipes at local drop-off sites. Donations will be distributed directly to families in need through Beale Air Force Base’s direct channels.
“Geweke Ford Kia is honored to partner with BMLC Inc. on this effort,” said Kellie Geweke Sheeran, Co-Owner of Geweke Ford Kia. “Beale AFB is part of who we are as a community. If filling a few trucks with diapers helps relieve stress for Airmen and their families, we’re proud to put our trucks to work for that mission.”
While programs such as WIC and SNAP provide nutrition assistance, they do not cover diapers, leaving many young families struggling to meet basic needs during pay interruptions.
Community members can help by donating diapers or wipes, or by contributing online at www.bmlc.org. Checks may be mailed to BMLC Inc., P.O. Box 1808, Yuba City, CA 95992.
Drop-off locations include Geweke Ford Kia – 871 E. Onstott Rd., Yuba City, Express Employment Professionals – 870 W. Onstott Rd., Suite E, Yuba City and Recology Yuba Sutter – 300 4th St., Marysville.
The Diaper Drive will end Nov. 14.
BMLC Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Beale Air Force Base and fostering strong partnerships between the installation and surrounding communities.
