The River Valley volleyball team celebrates its 3-2 win over Yuba City on Oct. 14


YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) – For the second time this season the River Valley volleyball team defeated crosstown rival Yuba City in a Foothill Valley League match.

However, unlike the previous contest, this time around the Falcons had to battle back from a set down to emerge with the 25-16, 22-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13 victory.

River Valley’s leading hitter Jada Barr did her part finishing with 17 kills, Parveen Takhar pitched in with 10, while setter Alexa Campos handed out 39 assists.

Campos also played a role defensively making five blocks and 20 digs.

Valeria Correa accounted for a team-high 22 digs, Takhar had 21, while Taylor Dill and Barr ended the night with 17 and 14 digs respectively.

No statistics were provided by Yuba City, who fell to 6-11 overall and 4-5 in the Foothill Valley League.

Both teams rounded out the regular season this week with River Valley traveling to Fair Oaks to take on Del Campo on Oct. 21, then returned home to face Placer on Oct 23, while the Honkers were in Auburn to play Placer on Tuesday ahead of their home match against Nevada Union on Thursday.
