YUBA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Child Passenger Safety Week is Sept. 21 through Sept. 27. The purpose of this week is to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of protecting children during every stage of development – from car seats to booster seats and seat belt use.
Studies show that about three out of five car seats are misused or installed improperly. Ensuring correct installation can significantly reduce the risk of injury for young children in a crash.
In recognition of National Seat Check Saturday, First 5 Yuba and Sutter County Children and Families Commission, in collaboration with local partners, will be hosting Car Seat Safety Checkups on Saturday, Sept. 27 in their respective counties. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on-site to help you ensure your child’s seat is the right type and properly installed.
Yuba County’s car seat check up will be held at 1114 Yuba Street, Marysville, CA 95901 (Yuba County One Stop) from 9 to 11 a.m.
Sutter County’s event will be held at 850 Gray Ave., Yuba City (former Kmart parking lot) from 10 a.m. to noon.
For additional questions about this event please call Yuba County at 530-749-4877 and Sutter County at 530-822-7505.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
